The recording of my glittery lips

When it was time for the filming of the lip scene, I could not find anyone reliable to cover for my friend India, as she could not make it to any of the set dates for this filming. So I decided to use myself, but recording it to, to insure I get the marks for the filming.

While filming this, I reversed the screen so I could see what I was doing. I read the lyrics from a sheet and used my film plan, to see what parts of the lyrics I had to mimic.

I used blue glitter not only for extra glitter effect, but the color Blue is in the title of the song. I stuck the glitter to my lips using lip gloss, and I had to often top up the glitter and lip gloss after each shot most of the time as the glitter tended to fall off and stick to my face.

Stills of Storyboard

I decided to do an in-depth plan , to help me along the way of making my music video.

Here is the first plan for my story-board it shows a house ( establishing shot) of the girl getting up and some flash-backs of the girl and boy having fun together

Here is the next few shots of the girl getting, up and opening curtains for the start of a new day. on this plan I have shown her brushing teeth, In my completed music video, I have got more shots of her depressed on her bed and eating chocolate etc. This is because I thought the brushing teeth would not look as good.
Also , as you can see on the story board, I have crossed out things where I have changed ideas, half way though the making of my music video, I did not stick to this plan as I was coming up with better ideas.

Here are some shots of the studio girl and more of the girl getting ready. I also for the ' Its stopped raining part' I plan to have girls dancing with umbrellas and have special effects with rain.

On this plan there is more shots of the studio girl. I also planned to use a freeze frame ( hp technique) of the girl taking a freeze frame out of the window but I decided it would not look as effective as a face so I included this later on.

I did not actually stick to any of these shots in my Music video. For example, the sun set rising, the shot of london town and the girl walking on the street.

here is the further plan through out my music video. Again I have made various changes. ( the crossing out)

Here I stuck to the lip plan of the glittery lips. However, At the time, I did not know I could do the Sun ray effect I did on After effects.

Here I plan to have the girl rushing through doors and rooms and someone playing a piano. ( to match the music)

Here I plan for the girl and boy to bump into each other and reunite and make up.

In my music video, I change the setting to a park, whereas in my plan it was a plan. But my actress and actor were worried about doing this in a town.

On this page, there is mainly different shots of the girl singing. The stars which I have put in some post it notes mean studio.

In these shots, I am planning to have the boy and girl making up and having fun to her. For example, her trying to put paint on him , laughing, and shots of her singing in the studio and bedroom. I also want to include her taking a freeze frame of the boy.

For these shots, I want to include the girl texting the boy preparing for a night out while at the same time they are out together sitting down and having a picnic. I plan to prepare a table full of cakes and sweets.

For these shots, I again plan to use lips with glitter but four to a screen instead of one. I also plan for the boy and girl to kiss. To keep the constant idea of paint, want to paint a love heart on a stomach around the belly button. I also want more shots of the boy and girl having a picnic together.

In these shots I plan to have the boy pulling silly faces to the camera with cakes. I also plan to film the boy and girl holding hands. I also want to film the boy and girl laughing to show that the music video will be a happy ending.

In the Shot, I plan to have one of the characters drinking to link with the lyrics " A celebration"

Towards the end of the music video I plan to include fireworks and the sunset. I also plan to film cars on a motor-way at nighttime to capture all the lights from the cars, I think this will look very good. I also plan for the boy and girl to hold hands and run away from the camera( in day light). I also plan for the girl to take another frame of the boy.

I then plan for the studio girl to walk away from the camera as an ending.

I made a animatic story board to help me get use to recording and editing.

Things to consider on the shoot

What could go wrong on the shoot?

I have to organized when filming as the following things could go wrong:
- not having permission to film in a location such as shopping centre
-Forgetting equipment
-leaving equipment behind on the shoot
-Not knowing what I have to do on the shoot
-Coming back to school with out any footage ( as this will waste other peoples time as they could have recorded)
-Actors being unreliable
-Absence from school, therefore missing editing
-time wasting on the shoot, which could mean everything will take too long
-weather
-Not leaving enough time for transport problems

I will also have to have excellent communication skills as the following could go wrong:
- Things could go wrong if I don't explain myself properly
-Not speaking out and saying how you feel
-Losing patients with other people
-other members to answering phones , or responding to group requests
-Arguements in groups
-Last minute changes to plan with out consulting my actor and actress
-Actors getting bored/ hungry/ annoyed/ cold
-Not recording

There could be Technical problems:
- camera battery not charged
-No knowledge on how to use equipment
-poor lighting
-poor sound
-shaky camera
-poor framing
- I have got to make sure I have a limited variety of shot distances, angles, movement
-poor consideration of continuity

influences to me

The above music video is a students A-level music video which I found on Youtube. I like the way the student has used freeze framing and I would like to try this technique.

I like the idea of the rushing, and running in doors and rooms. I may do something similar to this in my music video too.

Blood Hound Gang-Bad Touch Preliminary Task

Introduction
For our preliminary task for A2, we had to copy a music video , this was to help us pick up skills in premier pro such as editing and cutting, and to also get use to the camera itself. As a class, we chose to copy the music video "The Bad Touch" by The Blood Hound Gang as it looked like we would have a good time producing it ,as after all some of us will be dressed as monkeys.

Filming
However, this did not go quite to plan. When we first started recording, many of us were very hyper and this showed in the outcome of the first part of the video. Many of us in the video (including me) were smiling and avoiding laughter , this sort of ruined some shots and it took longer in a way because the blood hound gang kept very serious faces in the monkey outfits which made this more hilarious.I think there would have been a better result if we had planned the music video more, and maybe practiced instead of going strait into the recording as then most of us would be over the giggles once we have gone over shots, but we didn't have much time to rehearse but the acting was good considering we had not that much time.

At first I found the camera quite hard to use , but we all took turns to film which really helped my knowledge to use the camera. I also thought this was great teamwork.

Main Concerns
My main concern this year was loosing my work, as this happened last year during my As level and I lost most of my work. On this task, I saved after everyProxy-Connection: keep-alive
Cache-Control: max-age=0

lip I edited to prevent this happening again and I will for my work in the future.

Editing
I could describe Editing in two words. TIME CONSUMING. However once the editing was complete , I enjoyed the sigh of relief.

Ideas for my music video

I love the idea of freeze framing a shot like the hp advert.

I would like to experiment with this amazing technique and include it in my music video.

I like the idea of using animals in my music video as am a Strong Animal lover especially for cats.

Final Proposal

My chosen music track for my music video is Mr Blue Sky by Lily Allen, it has not been successful in last 10 years and it does not have a music video already.

My first ideas were to have peformers dressed as weather such as the sun, thunder , clouds etc and people chasing them in a maze. However, throughout the video it would become a bit boring to the audience so I decided to change it.

The reason why I chose this song is because it has more of an upbeat rhytm compared to the other songs and I have more creative ideas with this track.

I have also completely changed my ideas.
The style I want for my music video is more of a pop genre

Performers
Main Singer: I have chosen a female as the main singer as the song is by a female artist and it will look silly if a man was to act this role out.

Boy: a regualar boy in the video, prehaps the boyfriend of the main girl.

Costume
main singer wearing blue with blue accessories( to match the title of the song)
Street people and boy in casual clothes.

locations
Park
A white room which looks like it is being decorated.
streets
bedroom

Narrative Ideas
the main girl, decorating a room, and hanging up pictures.
scenes of street people happy.

Camera Angles
point of view shots
close up
narrative shots

Editing Styles
Reverse shot
hp advert shot

Video Recording exercise

Below is the script we were provided with:
FALLING DOWN – THE BURGER BAR SCENE

WILLIAM FOSTER: Hi.

WAITRESS SHEILA: Can I help you?

WILLIAM FOSTER: I'd like a ham and cheese Whamlette, an order of Wham fries—

WAITRESS SHEILA: Sorry, we stopped serving breakfast. We' re on the lunch menu.

WILLIAM FOSTER: I want breakfast.

WAITRESS SHEILA: We're not serving it.

WILLIAM FOSTER: So you said. Is that the manager? Could I speak to him, please?

WAITRESS SHEILA: Sure. Rick, a customer would like to speak to you.

MANAGER RICK: Yes, sir.

WILLIAM FOSTER: I'd like some breakfast.

MANAGER RICK: We stopped serving breakfast.

WILLIAM FOSTER: I know you stopped breakfast, Rick. Sheila told me you
stopped. . . .
Why am I calling you by first names? I don't know you.
I call my boss " mister" after years, but I walk in here, a stranger.
. . .and I' m calling you Rick and Sheila like we' re in an AA meeting. I don't want to be your buddy, Rick. I just want a little breakfast.

WAITRESS SHEILA: You can call me Miss Folsom if you want to.

MANAGER RICK: We stopped serving breakfast at 10:30 .

WILLIAM FOSTER: Have you ever heard the expression, "The customer is always right”? Well, here I am. The customer.

MANAGER RICK: That's not our policy. You have to order something from the lunch menu.

WILLIAM FOSTER: I don't want lunch. I want breakfast.

MANAGER RICK: Yeah, well, hey, I' m really sorry.

WILLIAM FOSTER: Yeah, well, hey, I' m really sorry too!

CUMSTOMER: He's got a gun!

WILLIAM FOSTER: Let's get organized! Calm down! Just calm down everybody. Sit down over there! Mister. Where are you going?
No. You sit down there, and you finish your lunch. Everybody just relax and take it easy. Eat your lunch. Please. You all need your vitamins A, B and--
Don't! It was an accident! It's the trigger. It's sensitive. It's okay! It's a sensitive trigger.

WILLIAM FOSTER: Could I have my breakfast?

MANAGER RICK: Yes, sir. Sheila?

WILLIAM FOSTER: Rick? Miss Folsom? You know what? You were right. I've changed my mind. I' m going to have some lunch. Could I have a double Whammyburger with cheese---You getting this? -Yes, sir. And an order of Whammy fries and, let's see . . . . . .a Choco-Wham shake.

MANAGER RICK: Yes, sir. Sheila, get his order.

WILLIAM FOSTER: Rick, could you get it for me, please? I feel comfortable calling you Rick after all we've been through together.

WILLIAM FOSTER: How you doing? Enjoying your meal? How about you? Is it good? And you, ma'am? How's the food?

WILLIAM FOSTER: I think we have a critic. I don't think she likes the special sauce.
That's a joke. Now, here we go. Thank you. See, this is what I'm talking about. Look at that. See what I mean? It's plump, juicy, three inches thick. Look at this sorry, miserable, squashed thing. Can anybody tell me what's wrong with this picture?
Anybody? Anybody at all?

Overall this task helped me get use to the camera and editing.
